You will travel a couple of miles on a wooded road to arrive at the gate of WhiteTail Resort. Don’t worry, you’ll eventually get there, with small white signs guiding you on the turns. The large, unmanned gate is prefaced with a speaker to contact the office to announce your arrival. As the gate lifts you will travel straight about 100 yards to the office/store on your left.
As with most nudist resorts, the friendly people in the office will record your info from your ID, and ask if this is your first nudist experience. If not, they still go through the resort information thoroughly, explaining all amenities and rules with a smile – providing literature and a rough map of the grounds.
This rustic campus consists of a 45-acre open area surrounded by woods. Front area consists of park models which are full time residential, most of the rest of the park is seasonal with two rows of transient sites providing water and electric (no sewer). Please note that water is turned off on a seasonal basis for transient sites. There are a few trees that are well trimmed to accommodate even the largest RVs.
A 13,000 Sq ft building holds an indoor pool, restaurant that seats about 120 where you are served a ton of home cooked food at great prices; other areas in the building include a laundry room with updated equipment, change machine, game room with 2 pool tables and video games, full library with cozy seating, a very informal lounge, multiple areas with clean, large open showers, and a huge recreation room with stage for events – including regular karaoke.

Naked Nomad's Thoughts:
We really enjoyed our stay at our first new-to-us nudist destination. Even though it was early December and “off-season” there were many seasonal and residential members on-site – and all very friendly and helpful. If it warm, most people are nude, and if its chilly, a big fluffy robe is the ‘haute couture’.
If you like to drink (& even if you don’t) you will love it there. They do not have a liquor license, so several people bring big bottles of frozen flavored rum or other alcohol to share. Dart night is Thursday and karaoke on Saturday (please refer to their website for the latest information).
The campus is a bit cramped with the units closely placed, but all are well-cared for and clean. Transient (RV) sites are well-spaced though it was not full since we were there off-season. Tent sites are wooded with large, marked-out areas for each tent set-up. Just past the tent area is a nature trail that has been lovingly maintained by the residents with fairy-themed décor along the way.
Our favorite things about White Tail:
- Everything is CLEAN
- Restaurant (open Fri-Sun/ off season) is casual, but clean and the food is amazing.
- Everyone, and I mean everyone, is friendly.
- There is a lot to do indoors in the off-season.
- Most transient sites have a trash receptacle on the site - very handy!
- The resort is within an hour of Norfolk, Williamsburg, Virginia Beach & Busch Gardens
- White Tail regulars refers to transients as "field mice".
